Gay Marriage

Marriage is a legal and binding relationship between a man and a woman. The Bible makes it clear that sexual relations outside of marriage is wrong in the site of God and so are sexual relations of any kind between partners of the same gender. These Christian teachings are clear and unequivocal. I oppose any law or constitutional amendment that would make same-sex marriages legal.

One can put forth all of the sophistry he or she wants about civil rights, freedom of expression, free agency, personal choice, genetic disposition, and equality. On this issue, God trumps philosophers, activists, and lawyers. In my mind and in my heart, I believe that homosexual relations are morally wrong, and to officially sanction them would incur the wrath of God upon this society and this country.

I allow others to have differing opinions. I respect their right to have their opinions and to voice them. I have compassion for those who feel they are inwardly compelled by same-sex attractions. I applaud those who strive to keep themselves in favor with God by avoiding the expression of homosexual desires, just as I applaud heterosexuals who refuse sexual relations before or outside of marriage.

I hope - I pray - that the majority of Americans will side with God and the Bible rather than with the faulty wisdom of man and the liberal religion of Hollywood. We ought to fear God and not man. As this country faces difficult and perilous times ahead, we ought to be mindful and prudent in not giving offense to Him whose blessings we need.
