Liquor By The Drink

Liquor by the drink is a financial issue. Governor Huntsman wants Utah to compete with Vegas and LA in attracting money. He wants to attract the high-rollers to our state who will drop big money in resort towns like Park City, instead of attracting families, who will spend less on vacation.

Many of us who have chosen Utah as our home did so because we liked Utah's family values and strong moral and ethical climate. The Governor wants to throw away that heritage to make a buck. He is willing to see increases in DUIs, auto accidents, and other crimes so the state can make more money.

I for one am proud of the fact that Utah is different from other places. I like the fact that the sale of hard liquor is controlled.

Anyone in this state can get a drink if they want it. But our children do not have to be a witness to it. Is it a little inconvenient for the drinker? Yes. I want it to be more inconvenient, not less, if it protects our children.
